We look forward to welcoming you to one of our services. We understand that visiting a new church for the first time can seem intimidating. We pray that the information on this page will answer some of your questions and help you know what to expect when you visit us.
When you enter our church, you will be warmly greeted by our pastor and other members of our congregation. Straight ahead of you, on either side of the drinking fountain, you will find the men's and women's restrooms. Baby changing tables are available in both restrooms. Down the hall to the left is our fellowship hall, where you are welcome to help yourself to coffee and any other refreshments that are there. To the right is the sanctuary, where the service will take place.
As you enter the sanctuary, the ushers will hand you a worship folder, in which you will find our worship service printed in its entirety. Please feel free to sit wherever you are comfortable. The back two benches on both sides of the aisle are reserved for our guests and for families with young children.
Hearing assist devices are available for those desire them. If you would like to use one, please speak to one of the ushers.
Worship services at Hope take place at 10:30 AM each Sunday and follow the historic Christian liturgy, which has developed over the history of the church. Each service focuses on a Christ-centered theme taken from the Scripture Lessons for that day. Services usually include the following parts:
Confession of sins and announcement of forgiveness:
We acknowledge that we were born sinful, that we have not always done what God demands, and that we deserve God's eternal punishment. We then are assured of the full forgiveness of all our sins because of what Jesus Christ has done for us!
We hear a lesson from God's Word in the Old Testament, a lesson from God through Jesus' apostles, and finally a Gospel lesson from Jesus himself.
A short, special lesson based on the theme for the day is usually given for children. The children are invited to come, if they wish, to the front of the church and sit down with the pastor.
We hear an in-depth lesson based on one of the Scripture Lessons for the day. The sermon usually lasts about 20 minutes.
Throughout our worship service, including at the beginning and the end, we sing hymns of praise to God. The hymns for the service are all printed in the worship folder.
Multiple prayers to God are given during the service.
Members of Hope give offerings after the sermon. Members' offerings are an expression of gratitude to God and are used to support the ministry of Hope. We do not expect guests to give an offering. You may simply pass the offering plate along when it comes to you. However, if you would like to give an offering, you are welcome to do so.

Other Questions You May Have
What should I wear?
Many members wear business casual, although some dress up more or less. However, the Bible presents no dress code. We are much more interested in sharing the good news of Jesus with you than we are in what you are wearing.
Where am I supposed to sit?
Please feel free to sit wherever you feel most comfortable. If you need assistance, an usher will be able to help you.
What if I have babies or young children who may be noisy?
Just as the good news of Jesus is meant not just for adults but for people of all ages, so we eagerly welcome even the youngest children to our services. Our congregation has many families with young children and babies, and we encourage you to bring your entire family. The back rows of church are meant for parents with young children. We have special worship folders and worship activity bags for young children to use during the service. And, if your child does become disruptive, we have a nursery room with toys and books where you can take your child and still hear the service. The ushers will be happy to help you if you need any assistance.
Will I be asked to stand up and say something?
No. We want you to feel comfortable and at home at Hope, and do not want to do anything that has the potential to make you feel uncomfortable. We want you to be relaxed and learn about what your Savior has done for you.
Will I feel out of place?
We hope that our website will help you become more familiar with us so that you will not feel out of place. Furthermore, we would love to have you visit with us and will do all we can to help you feel welcome.
Will members try to pressure me into joining Hope or signing up for congregational activities?
No. We understand that you will need time to evaluate and decide if you wish to continue visiting Hope. We believe that church membership should be voluntary, and faith comes from hearing God’s Word, not by pressure.
What if I don’t know much about the Bible?
Hope is a great place to learn! Worship services, Youth and Adult Bible Classes, and Sunday School are all opportunities to learn more about God’s Word in the Bible. You will not have to read or answer questions.
Any other questions?
Please don't hesitate to speak to our pastor or to any of our members. We are more than eager to help you in any way we can.
